Building with nature-delivering sustainable development
Dr. Gemma Jerome
Monday 21 January 2019

The Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, alongside the University of the West of England, has developed a green infrastructure benchmark to secure benefits for people and wildlife through new housing development. The Building with Nature benchmark has been created to set a new standard for creating natural green space which secures space for nature, supports active healthy lifestyles, and ensures new development is resilient to flooding. This talk with Dr Gemma Jerome, Building with Nature will introduce the evidence that sits behind the benchmark, and illustrates how the benchmark will be applied in new development in Gloucestershire by looking at a number of case studies from across the county which have already been accredited with this new award, including the Chesterton Farm scheme at Cirencester.
