Cirencester Civic Society

From October until March inclusive:

Guided Town Walks may be booked for any daylight time except Christmas and New Year Days. There is no minimum number. The walk takes about 70 minutes and usually starts and finishes at the Church Porch in the Market Square. The guide will describe how the buildings and sites fit into the 2000 year history of the town, together with some of the people who lived here, since it was founded by the Romans in about AD75 (there was a fort here for about 30 years before that.)

The administrative details and the historical content can be altered by agreement with the guide. (You could ask to be met at your hotel or to finish, for example, at a pub). Until the end of this year, 2018, the cost will be held at £3 per adult, students and children are free. The guides are volunteers. All monies go to the Civic Society.

To arrange a walk please contact: William Cooper: email or phone 01285 88 55 90

While we cannot guarantee the availability of a guide, the more notice you can give increases the chance of one being found.”

All walks are suitable for children and  disabled people. The route is all on streets with a few standard kerbs to cross. We are never more than 10 minutes from the Market Square.

In 2018 our guides have taken just over 1000 people on a walk.
