Cirencester Civic Society

Take a fascinating guided walk round this historic town and learn some of its secrets: medieval streets—the unique 16th century “Town Hall”—the mansion and its towering hedge—the traces of the vanished abbey—and much more. Walks take about 75 minutes in the company of an experienced guide.

Un-booked walks -just turn up on the day-are held on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and Bank Holiday Mondays from 1st April to 30th September. Additional unbooked walks on some weekdays will be planned and notified here and on the Town Notice Board in the Market Place.

Walks start at 3pm from the church porch in the Market Place —look for the golden sash! Charge is £2 per adult (children free) in aid of Civic Society projects.

For 2017 we are also arranging guided walks in the Abbey Grounds as part of the celebrations of the 900th anniversary of the founding of the Abbey of St. Mary-see our notice board in the Market Place for details of days and times.

Additional walks for groups may be booked for any time of the year during daylight hours.
